50 to play - even the ones from the old days. It was a thrill to play some of the oldie pinball and video games - oh by the way - most of the pinball costs at least. I took her word for it, but her facial expressions said it all. She said it was the most disgusting bathroom she had seen in a long time. My female friend unwisely used the ladies room and saw cockraches in there. There was visible trash all around and this only was at 11am when the place had just opened. Sadly, there were many other machines that were broken.
When I asked why my beloved Haunted House, Black Knight 2000, and Banzai Run pinball machines were turned off - well it was because they were broken! Oh ok - fine, then kindly inform the public on your hall of fame website or something. There were a couple of snotty punk teenagers working there who couldn't care less about pinball or about answering questions. There's no one watching the front door, no attendant, intro sign. There are also some classic video games - from PacMan to Punchout to Frontline. Inside, you are presented with a small warehouse and it looks like a warehouse - cockroaches and all (more on this later) - filled with a lot of pinball machines from modern times and going back to the 40s and 50s. The sign was very fitting for what we would see once we entered. Ok- that's not too much of a big deal - just unbecoming of a place that calls itself the hall of fame.
How many times in life does one get to visit a hall of fame? How many times will someone visit Vegas? Well, this was the opportunity! On the outside of the building, there's a real cheapo sign, more like a $2 banner that says "Pinball Hall of Fame". Talk about going on way back machine to the 1980s! I didn't mind that the location was about 1/2-1 mile off the strip near the campus of UNLV - I was going to check this place out - no matter what.
When I learned of the Pinball of Fame from TripAdvisor, I went to their website and was so excited to learn that they had on the premises some of my favorite pinball games of all time: Haunted House, Black Knight 2000, and Banzai Run.
